Il 58% dei medici dichiara di praticare la medicina difensiva e per il 93% il fenomeno è destinato ad aumentare.
Uno scenario che ha un impatto economico stimato nel 10% del totale della spesa sanitaria (9-10 mld) con un costo pro capite di 165 euro su un totale di 1847 euro.
È quanto emerge da uno studio pilota elaborato dall'Agenzia nazionale per i servizi sanitari regionali (Agenas) e presentato oggi durante il workshop "Medicina difensiva - Sperimentazione di un modello per la valutazione della sua diffusione e del relativo impatto economico".
Lo studio è stato effettuato su 4 regioni (Lombardia, Marche, Sicilia, Umbria) su un campione di circa 1500 medici ospedalieri.
Il 58% degli intervistati ha dichiarato di praticare la medicina difensiva.
Le prestazioni più frequenti per cui la si pratica sono nel 33% gli esami laboratorio, sempre con il 33% gli esami strumentali, per il 16% le visite specialistiche e per il 6% il comportamento è quello di non fornire cure potenzialmente efficaci ma ad alto rischio complicazioni.
Secondo i medici intervistati le cause principali sono: per il 31% la legislazione sfavorevole per il medico, per il 28% il rischio di essere citati in giudizio e il 14% lo sbilanciamento del rapporto medico-paziente con eccessive richieste, pressioni e aspettative da parte del paziente e dei familiari.
