Più vaccinazioni ed equità, anche condividendo dosi
"Perché la pandemia finisca, dobbiamo aumentare rapidamente le vaccinazioni anti-Covid in maniera equa in tutti i Paesi, supportare la produzione di vaccini, se del caso, e la condivisione delle dosi, se serve, per proteggere la popolazione vulnerabile in ogni Paese". E' l'esortazione di Dorit Nitzan, direttore regionale delle emergenze dell'Oms (Organizzazione mondiale della sanità) Europa.
Nell'area, fa notare l'esperta, "la diffusione complessiva della vaccinazione varia ampiamente tra gli Stati membri della Regione europea dell'Oms e la copertura tra i gruppi di popolazione prioritari
- come gli over 60, gli operatori sanitari, le persone che vivono in strutture di assistenza a lungo termine e quelle con patologie di base - è ancora bassa in alcuni Paesi".
I vaccini, sottolinea Nitzan, "si sono dimostrati efficaci nel prevenire malattie gravi e decessi. Più casi in questi gruppi prioritari significheranno più ricoveri e morti". Ecco perché "dobbiamo urgentemente vaccinare tutti i gruppi prioritari".
