Terza dose ai fragili è necessaria, poi i sanitari
"La cosiddetta terza dose, aggiuntiva, per pazienti immunocompromessi e pertanto particolarmente esposti ad un esito grave dell'infezione da Sars-CoV-2 è necessaria in base alle evidenze di studi scientifici. Questi pazienti hanno una risposta immunitaria compromessa dalle patologie da cui sono affetti o dalle terapie a cui sono sottoposti e necessitano pertanto di uno stimolo vaccinale suppletivo e ravvicinato nel tempo (entro 28 giorni) dal completamento del ciclo di immunizzazione. Per il resto della popolazione, la terza dose, il cosiddetto booster, che si è visto è in grado di potenziare di 8 o 10 volte la risposta immunitaria, potrà essere somministrata dopo sei mesi dal completamento del ciclo vaccinale". Così Giorgio Palù, numero uno dell'Agenzia italiana del farmaco (Aifa) e componente del Comitato tecnico scientifico nazionale, in un'intervista a 'Il Mattino'.
Come si è giunti al via libera, dal 20 settembre, per la somministrazione delle terze dosi agli immunodpressi? "La proposta, già avanzata oltre un mese fa nel Cts della Protezione Civile, è stata formalizzata dal Cda dell'Aifa giovedì 9 settembre", aggiunge. Cosa dicono in proposito gli studi? "Dimostrano che in pazienti immunodepressi, per cause naturali (leucemie, immunodeficienze acquisite quali l'Aids) o cliniche (trapiantati, oncologici, pazienti con malattie autoimmuni che assumono farmaci immunosoppressori e anti rigetto), un ciclo di due dosi di vaccino non è sufficiente a proteggere da Covid-19", avverte.
Perché gli immunodepressi in prima battuta e non i sanitari come all'inizio del Piano vaccinale? "Perché sono i soggetti più a rischio anche in base al parametro della letalità e dunque vanno subito protetti - risponde Palù - I sanitari, quelli particolarmente esposti al virus, potranno immediatamente dopo, entrare in lista di priorità".
